Sexy Clubwear & Dancewear
Ever since the 1920’s when due to prohibition, young folks would migrate into illegal hidden Speakeasy’s in order to drink and dance; the nightclub has been an important part of the youth culture. When prohibition was repealed, the nightclub was able to come out into the open and it eventually became an exciting entertainment venue. During the 1950’s and 60’s, big bands were most often the featured musicians in the nightclubs.
In the 1970’s, the days of Disco brought renewed excitement into the nightclub life with Discothèque’s popping up in cities everywhere. A DJ would play a mix of music that would have songs smoothly overlapping virtually seamlessly--the point being of course, to keep dancers dancing out on the dance floor all night long. Lighting systems that coordinated with the beat of the music added to the feeling of the music and the ambience of the nightlife.
The nightclub scene’s popularity continues to this day. Today’s clubber is dancing to hip-hop, trance, electronica or other popular varieties of dance music. Just as in the Speakeasy’s of the early 1920’s, the youth of today enjoy the excitement, music and social aspects of the nightclub scene. The faces may have changed a bit, but the basic premise is still the same. The nightclub is often considered the perfect place to “see and be seen” and when it comes to “what to wear” out to a club, it’s obviously all about “dressing to impress.”
Those that are unabashed club lovers know that typical Club wear makes a very bold fashion statement, particularly as it’s worn under the lights while out on the dance floor. Club wear is meant to be provocative and sensual as this reflects the feeling of the nightclub at large. Bright colors, shimmering or unusual fabrics, bold styling and fashions that push the sexual envelope are definitely the order of the night.
